Check COVID-19 restrictions
Before booking the tour, check the Covid restrictions of each country or state on your itinerary. Check state and local regulations on things like mask mandates, indoor restrictions, vaccination requirements, contact tracing, event cap restrictions, etc.
Prepare proof of vaccination
If you are a touring artist in 2022, you may be required to complete a “proof of vaccination” form along with a copy of your vaccination status for each country or state you are visiting. If you are not vaccinated, you may need to check if that country or state requires you to book a PCR or rapid throughput test 46-72 hours in advance. If you plan to visit several different countries or states, be sure to check each location’s rules and regulations to avoid any hassles during the actual visit.
Check Visa Rules
If you are traveling to a country where you need a visa to enter, you should apply for one well in advance. Indeed, many government institutions around the world are still facing staffing shortages and serious challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To avoid disappointment, make sure to submit your application months before the tour start date.
If you are renting equipment, be sure to send the supplier a list of what you need well before the tour begins. Also, if you’re borrowing the backline of the title or supporting acts, make sure that the management of the other acts has confirmed that you can use their gear. We can assure you that showing up to a venue, only to find the headliner isn’t sharing their drum kit with you, is a complete nightmare.
Due to the pandemic, fewer people are carrying cash. Therefore, investing in a card reader is essential if you’re a touring artist in 2022. After all, you don’t want to lose the money you’d normally earn selling merchandise. There are many card reader companies for you to choose from. Make sure to choose a reputable one to avoid fraud or scams.
