With this in mind, the tourism industry in Qatar has never looked so attractive. Today, Qatar Tourism offers a tour guide training program to give individuals the opportunity to improve their skills in this rapidly growing industry.

Experts expect ‘permanent tourism boost’ for Qatar’s future after World Cup

The program aims to regulate tourism service providers by providing official tour guide licenses to those who meet all the necessary conditions.

This step will be crucial for Qatar Tourism in order to achieve service excellence in the industry and will also help provide a unique and memorable experience for visitors flocking to the Gulf State.

Even as the tourism industry is reeling from the consequences of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar has taken all necessary measures to make the safety and health of tourists a top priority.

The dates of the training sessions should be announced in the coming months. Those interested can register through Qatar Tourism website or in person at the office of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The program, first launched in 2017, will feature courses taught in English with an exam fee of 1,200 QAR. The license fee for a tour guide has been set at QAR 1,000. These fees have been waived for new applicants for 2021/22.

So far, 100 tour guides have been trained and are now licensed to offer their expertise to avid travelers.

“As the main point of contact for visitors, tour guides must be able to tell stories, give visitors information and insights into the history, culture and heritage of the country, which will help to deliver an unprecedented experience, ”said Berthold Trenkel, COO of Qatar Tourism.

The Tour Guide Training Program uses the Qatar Tourism ‘Guide for Tour Guides’ which has been developed in partnership with key stakeholders such as Qatar Museums, Msheireb Museums, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Souq Waqif, the Qatar Foundation, Qatar TV and Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid.
